The holidays are over

Now that I have survived the holidays, it is time to focus on my goals for 2011.  I have been thinking and my plan will be a duathlon in May, 5k in May (local one that we enjoy), 2 or 3 mini triathlons in summer, sprint tri in September, Hartford CT half marathon in October and (hopefully) the Disney half next January!
Running has been good as of late.  The cold thing I had finally left and I have been back on pace.  I did 5 miles on Christmas eve, beautiful weather, 34 and sunny; and I got 4.75 in on the treadmill today.  We are having a snow storm with high winds and blizzard warnings, so the treadmill was the best option.  Chris, my husband is running the goofy challenge in Disney in less than 2 weeks and I am praying for good weather and clear skies for marathon weekend!

Feeling a little ill

I have had this cold/cough for a few weeks now and it just will nit go away. I have a nasty cough and congestion. I ran 3.25 on Wednesday and the breathing was rough, had to slow my pace a bit. Yesterday I did 40 min in the endurance setting on our elliptical, and I felt nauseous at the end. I think part of it is the change in the weight watchers program. I have lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks, but I am feeling carb deprived. The new plan is higher protein lower carbs. I need to try to have more balance with my food choices. Hopefully that combined with getting rid of this illness and I will be on track and running more!

Nothing new here... Ran 5 miles outside on Sunday at 8:50-9min mile pace which is good for me. I had stomach cramping the last 2 miles which made it a little rough. I got in 30 min on the bike at the gym Monday night at work and another 30 min on the elliptical Tuesday evening. Today I worked nights and had to be back for meetings this afternoon into the evening, long day! No workouts for me, I'm beat. On a side note, weight watchers changed their program this week and after many years as a lifetime member, I am thrown for a loop. I think it will take a few weeks to adjust.
I am hoping to get a run in tomorrow, hopefully outside.

Happy belated Thanksgiving! It has been very busy here for the last week or so. The holiday went well, did 30 min on the crosstrainer at work and ate well. Yesterday I got a 5k in at night on the treadmill and planning a 45 min -1 hr elliptical workout this afternoon. I still feel a bit off, but getting better. My thyroid is stabilizing and I am just borderline anemic I think the sleep deprivation from working night shift may be part of what is making me feel off. I am trying to make sure I am getting enough sleep on my nights off. Oh well. We got our tree up and decorated and the other decor is all out and set up. Now the kids are getting crazy and it is time to get them outside for a bit.

issues...

I had a decent week workout wise last week, good mix of running, biking and the recently repaired elliptical.  However, my hypothyroid is an issue again.  I have been feeling off and having minor symptoms that my levels are off again, I got my blood drawn on Thursday, hopefully get the results tomorrow.  It has been tough since this issue was discovered last spring.  I have to work out more and eat less points on WW maintenance just to keep my weight steady and then when my levels are off I have weight gains and then struggle to lose the pound or two afterwords.  I hope this eventually gets regulated and I can feel "right" again.  Oh well, enough complaining.  Got a good 30 minutes on the elliptical tonight, hoping for a good week!

not feeling very motivated today

It was a tough day...the kids were crazy- must be the time change, and I felt tired and run down all day.  I literally dragged myself out to get in a run this afternoon.  I figured it might make the day a little better and it did.  I felt glad I got it in and it chilled me out a bit.  I did 5.5 miles in 50:01 with a few red lights stops, not bad for me.  Now I am getting ready for a relaxing evening and early to bed.

feeling sick...

I have not been feeling great this week.  I have a sore throat, nasal congestion and a constant vague headache.  It didn't help that I had to work night shift on Monday and days on Wednesday, that threw me off a bit.  My youngest is sick too, nasty cold and an ear infection.  I have been sticking to the elliptical and recumbent bike.  Did 20 min on each Tuesday and 35 min on the elliptical last night.  I am hoping to run today if my head doesn't ache too bad.

Halloween weekend

I avoided the candy for the most part.  Had one small size 3 Musketeers to fulfill the craving and I was good.  I got a 12 mile bike ride in Saturday and a 5.4 mile run in on Sunday (plus all the trick or treating!)  Decent training weekend.  Husband got 16 miles in today- awesome job!  Looking towards setting my 2011 fitness goals, trying to decide what is manageable with work, the kids, husbands work and training schedule and my (hopeful) pursuit of my Masters Degree...
